As a photographer, Paco Guerrero is often called to cover events. He hasn’t done this in a long time, but when photographer and advocate John K. Chua invited us to join the “PWD Achievers: Reach for the Sky” event, the TSO team did not hesitate.
Organized by Chua, in partnership with the Angeles City Flying Club (ACFC), Canon Philippines, Canon A Team, SM Supermalls, SM Program on Disability Affairs, the Philippine Navy, and the Philippine Air Force, the event brought together young PWD achievers for a day of flights on ultralights, helicopters, and fixed wing aircrafts.

“There are a total of 36 PWD achievers from 7 different PWD organizations,” said one of the Canon volunteer photographers, Sarita Zafra, said, “and they brought their families with them and their relatives so they're about 200 to 250 now in this event.”

Among the groups included are: Parent Advocates for the Visually Impaired Children (PAVIC), Autism Society Philippines (ASP), ADHD Society of the Philippines, Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DASPI), Kythe Foundation, Philippine Society of Orphan Disorders, and St. Francis School.

“The Angeles Flying Club is a non profit, non stock corporation, which is dedicateed to sport aviation here in the Philippines,” explained Terry Hockenhull, one of the Flying Angels. “When we talk about sport aviation we talk about recreation with flying, people flying for fun, there's no purpose to get liscences and fly airliners we just do this for fun.”

And fun was what everybody had. This is truly photography with a difference, using the craft to push for acts, advocacies and art that we believe deserve to be featured.
